Lakelyn {newbie session!!}

I *adore* the propped baby photos.. all of the cute hats, the babies with their heads propped up on their little hands, the baskets, the buckets, the slings and swings and rabbits and bullfrogs (okay, I've never actually seen rabbits and bullfrogs)- they are insanely cute. Cute to the point that I would actually hang some of these photos on my OWN wall & they aren't even my kids!! But, as much as I think they are stinkin' adorable and sometimes get the urge to replicate some of these ideas that I see on Pinterest, it's just not my style. Not that it's not my style as in "I, personally, wouldn't want a photo like that", but as in "It's not my style of ART that I, personally, want to create." Anywho, that being said- if that is what you are looking for in a photographer, you may want to call on someone who considers his or herself to be a "newborn photographer",which I am not. I am a photographer who loves photographing newborns... and oldborns... and children... and adults... I'm not specifically a newborn photographer. There are other photographers who know exactly how to pose these tiny little babies in these amazingly cool poses safely (and adorably) and I would even be more than happy to give you the names of some of them, if that's what you're looking for. So, now that we've covered what I'm not (lol), let's talk about what I am. I consider myself much more of a "lifestyle" photographer. You may end up with shots of your baby crying (as in this session) because, as we all know, babies cry. And, I think a newborn's cries are just precious. The little faces that a newborn makes are so exclusive to that time in his or her life. I look back on pictures of my own screaming newborns and think "Awh!! I miss that screaming face!!" The moments that I capture may not be "perfect" moments, but they are REAL moments. If your older child wants to be silly & keeps sticking out their tongue (again, as you'll see here) I'm getting that. Because that's just who they are at this stage. You don't want to forget that silliness. You never have to worry that I'm going to leave a session thinking "those kids were out of control!!" because, I promise you- I will not. I'll probably be thinking about how precious they were & how much they remind me of my own.

This family was an absolute JOY to photograph. Little Lakelyn is the first baby girl; she has two older brothers and is beyond adored!! There was definitely some crying, but again- that's what newborns do. They eat, sleep, cry, and poop. That's about it. But, HOW cute are they even when they're doing those things??? Brandi & Justin are both gorgeous people, so it's no surprise that Lakelyn is a looker, herself. Go ahead. Take a look. :)
